Shelter
Shelter, 2013
Built during an artist residency at The Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art in Nashville, Shelter took approximately three months to complete (the process began before the residency). The roots that make up the ceiling were weaved using bark-covered wire and jute and then each root was stained a dark earthy brown - the smell adding as much as the color to the underground scene. Over 7,000 feet of jute and over 2,000 feet of bark-covered wire were used to create the ceiling.
